We had been looking forward to J Lo and Shakira smashing their set at the Superbowl - and unlike Maroon 5’s performance last year - the popstars didn’t disappoint, with the Latina superstars collaborating for the sparkliest, sexiest set in years. Shakira, celebrating her 43rd birthday on stage, crowd surfed, and J Lo performed the quickest costume change of all time. And it was a family affair, as J Lo even brought her 11-year-old daughter, Emme Muñiz - who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony - on stage to perform a mellowed rendition of her mother's hit Let's Get Loud.
Perhaps the most memeable moment of the night, though, was when Shakira wagged her tongue at the cameras. (As one user tweeted, ‘Bringing Shakira energy into this new week.’)
Obviously, all the A listers agreed with how brilliant we thought the performance was. Lady Gaga, who had the honours of performing in 2017, tweeted, ‘@JLo and @shakira and all the special guests were so incredible!!! What a fun halftime show I danced and smiled the whole time. Such powerful sexy women!!!! On camera and off!!!!! Love you beautiful sexy talented women.' (Just look at the exclamation marks!)
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian added, 'They really shut it down!!!!’ Her sister, Khloe, chimed in saying, ‘Shakira and J Lo both did incredible in their performances in my opinion! But can we talk about how both of these women do not age whatsoever! I am captivated by there dancing and their stage performances. Wow!!'
But the cutest reaction of all came from J Lo’s fiance, Alex Rodriguez, who shared a video of him bouncing in the crowd. 'AMAZING!! She ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED IT! Wow, that was so fun! I’m so proud of you, Jen!'
