In a post to her Instagram, she shared a picture of a positive pregnancy test and a quote from poet Seyda Noir to announce to her fans that she’d unfortunately had a miscarriage. She tagged her location as ‘heartbroken’.

In the same caption, she told fans she still wanted to perform for them just one day after finding out the news, sharing that she went from worrying about concealing the pregnancy to worrying about ‘breaking down’ mid performance.

The caption reads ‘Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying “seriously how I am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I’m pregnant”. By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down”

She explains that she went for her third scan beforehand, and there was no longer a heartbeat. ‘This morning I feel like I have no control of my emotions. I may regret posting this. I may not. I actually don’t know.’

She continued ‘but I know I want to sing tonight. Not because I’m avoiding hegrief or the process, but because I know singing tonight will help me. I have done 2 shows in 2 years and my soul need it.

Jessie J says singing has always been her ‘self love’ and ‘therapy’ and that she needed yesterday’s performance more than ever.

‘I know some people will be thinking she should just cancel it. But in this moment I have clarity on one thing, I started singing when I was young for joy, to fill my soul and self love therapy. That hasn’t ever changed and I have to process this my way.’

The 33-year-old singer said ‘the sadness is overwhelming’ but added: ‘I know I am strong, and I know I will be okay.’

Jessie J had decided to have a baby on her own, because that’s ‘all she’d ever wanted’. Speaking on this decision in the Instagram post, she said ‘Life is short. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again. ‘

She sent her heart out to the ‘millions of women’ who’ve felt the same heartbreak, sharing ‘I know millions of women all over the world have felt this pain and way worse. I feel connected to those of you I know and those of you I don’t. It’s the loneliness feeling in the world.’

Singer Paloma Faith who reassured Jessie that she was doing the right thing and sent a message of support. ‘“Jessie you are 100 per cent doing the right thing,” Faith wrote. ‘“I had a miscarriage on a film set where I was filming and I just kept filming... You get your joy from singing and you need your joy more than ever. You will and should have a baby…. Women are amazing!’

Other celebrities have also sent heartfelt messages to Jessie J to share their support from Pixie Lott to Laura Whitmore and JoJo.
