Here’s Why Fans Think JLo And Ben Affleck Are Recreating Scenes From The Jenny From The Block Video

In what we can all agree has been a pretty shocking year, I think we can all agree that news of JLo and Ben Affleck rekindling their iconic early noughties relationship has given us a well-needed injection of hope. The couple, affectionately referred to as Bennifer in the press at the time, set the rumour mill whirring in April this year as Affleck was seen coming and going back and forth from JLo’s Los Angeles mansion. Things have escalated quickly, with JLo making it Insta official over this weekend while celebrating her 52nd (yes, really) birthday — and simultaneously restoring the whole world’s faith in love at the same time.

As you’d imagine, fans have gone wild, speculating over every new detailand trying to understand how the rekindling came to be, what it all means and crucially, whether they’ll get the happily ever after they both deserve after multiple high-profile break-ups. One particularly interesting rumour though revolves around the theory that Bennifer are purposefully recreating scenes from JLo’s Jenny from the Block video (which Affleck famously starred in) for the paparazzi in order to stir up a media frenzy and/or promote the upcoming 20th anniversary of the song. Sounds quite far-fetched, but stay with me.

What’s the evidence?

An American screenwriter and podcaster, Caissie St Onge, seems to be one of the first to pick up on some of the eerie callbacks being made in the photos between the newly reconciled couple. In an Instagram post, she references a recent podcast episode in which she voiced a theory that Bennifer “are giving us a shot-for-shot remake of her iconic video for ‘Jenny from the Block’ for the song’s upcoming 20th anniversary.”

“Let’s examine the evidence I’ve compiled so far,” she continues. “This May, Ben was seen wearing the watch JLo gave him IN the orig [sic] JFTB video!” Then, she explains, “on June 14th, B & J were snapped at a dinner together, by paparazzi. People focused on the fact that it was their 1st public kiss since rebooting their romance. I focused on the placement of everything at that dinner, including the angle the paps were shooting from. Very similar to the shots of B & J at dinner being secretly shot by paps in JFTB vid! Jen even seems to be wearing a similar up/down hairdo.” She goes on to say: “did this confirm I was on the right track? Not just yet. I said, ‘Call me when they are on a yacht together. That’s when I will know.’ WELL GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY! Ben, Jen, yacht, bikini. Kissing.” St Onge says she is “now 98% sure [this] must be happening,” before adding, “IF ANYONE SEES BEN PUTTING GAS IN JEN’S CAR, CALL ME IMMEDIATELY.”

A quick analysis of the visual evidence makes the theory look quite compelling, but the question remains, why would they be doing this? And does it mean their relationship is a sham? (Please no, we cannot take more bad news.)

The answers to both of those questions are unknown, but time will tell if these Easter Eggs are intentional or just some sort of strange coincidence. In the meantime, we hope they keep on teasing us with their romance because goodness knows we need some fun, light-hearted gossip and entertainment this year — and they both deserve some love. Maybe happily ever after does exist after all?
