After two years of dating, pop superstar Jennifer Lopez and baseball player are Alex Rodriguez are finally engaged – and love is most definitely in the air. The couple told the world about their engagement on Saturday night, annoucing the news with a photo of J-Lo wearing her massive emerald-cut ring, which is estimated to be worth a super cool £770,000. Letting her hand do the talking, she simply captioned a picture of the gorgeous ring with a string of red heart emojis. (The post is nearly at 5 million likes, so it looks like everyone is as delighted as we are.) The engagement is hopefully fourth time lucky for the dancer, as she has has been married three times to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony (who she shares twins Max and Emme with.) Meanwhile, it’ll be the second marriage for Alex, who has been divorced since 2008.
But, while the pair might have only been together for two years, their love story actually started 20 years ago - when a 23-year-old A-Rod asked the singer for her autograph. Proving dreams can come true, back in October, the sportsman confessed that he'd been Jennifer’s biggest fan for - quite literally - ages. "#TBT to almost 20 years ago when a big time global pop superstar signed a pic for a young ball player #lifecanbeafunnythingsometimes #pictureperfect #keepsake #jlo,” he wrote, sharing an old picture of the star that she'd specially signed for him.
J-Lo has previously gushed in interviews about how similar she is to her new fiancé, and why they work so well as a couple. “Both Alex and I are Latino. We are both self-made. He was always the hardest working baseball player that was – me, the same,” she told Red magazine. "We have that in common. We have the same work ethic. We also appreciate and know that coming from nothing, we always want to try to help and give back and teach our kids that."

Celebrating their two-year milestone last month, J-Lo also posted a gallery of sweet snaps to instagram, further proving that the pair are couple goals. “Two years of laughter, two years of fun, two years of adventures, of excitement, of growing and learning, of true friendship, and so much love!!" she captioned the post. "You make my world a more beautiful safe and stable place... in the midst of our ever-changing, ever-moving life... You make me feel like a teenager starting out all over again... Every time I think I have you pegged, you surprise me in the most wonderful ways reminding me how blessed I am to have found you now in this moment at this time... Our time... Te Amo Macho... #atapontheshoulder #2years."
We're certainly wishing the well-matched couple all the best - Jennifer seems happier than ever.
