Jennifer Lawrence is undoubtedly our favourite actress. Be it her straight-talking persona, her infectious humour or no bull attitude - we couldn’t think of anyone we’d rather be besties with.

And she continuously uses her wit to chip away at the seemingly resilient glass ceiling of Hollywood. And it seems her efforts have paid off, yet again.

Forbes have released the list of the world’s highest paid actresses with Jennifer earning the top spot after bagging $46 million pre-tax. And not only was it an achievement for the 27 year-old to reclaim the title two years in a row, she did so as the youngest actress in the list, as half of the names mentioned are over 40.

Melissa McCarthy followed closely behind having earned $33 million following a series of film releases this year including cult re-make, Ghosbusters. And McCarthy was shortly followed by Scarlet Johansson, who earned $25 million this year. Though we’re not sure how she’ll feel to have made the list. The actress revealed she was left ‘disappointed’ to be named the highest grossing actress of all time at the box office, after she was the only woman to have made the top ten.

Though Jennifer’s impressive earnings follow a somewhat quieter year for the actress. But of course her earnings consist of her impressive profits from the final Hunger Games instalment.

And you can take a look at the full list of the highest earning actresses below:

  1. Jennifer Lawrence ($46million)

  2. Melissa McCarthy ($33million)

  3. Scarlett Johansson ($25million)

  4. Jennifer Aniston ($21million)

  5. Fan Bingbing ($17million)

  6. Charlize Theron ($16.5million)

  7. Amy Adams ($13.5million)

  8. Julia Roberts ($12million)

  9. Mila Kunis ($11million)

  10. Deepika Padukone ($10million)

Forbes is set to release the list of the highest earning actors of 2016 on Thursday which is set to be a rather interesting read. Of course despite the success of the actresses listed above, the fact still remains that male actors earn comparatively more than their female counterparts.

Last year for example, top-earner Robert Downey Jr. earned $28 million more than Jennifer Lawrence. Ouch.

So here’s to hoping the actor’s highest-earning list will close the gender gap once and for all...
