Not a week goes by where Jennifer Lawrence doesn't find a deeper place in our hearts. This time, it's because she's offered up a tremendously unique reason for tripping over her dress on the way to collect her Best Actress Oscar last year.
Most people tripping over in couture are either too strung out/starving to co-ordinate their limbs (think literally tripping) or just incredibly nervous, but Jennifer says she fell because she had cake on the brain. Seriously – we're not being mean, that's not our style.
'I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, “Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk,”’ she told W magazine. ‘I thought, "Why is "cakewalk" stuck in my head?"' So far, so, er, logical. 'And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, “Kick, walk, kick, walk,"' she continued. ‘You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell.'
Has there ever been a more genuinely LOL wardrobe malfunction?
Side point: We’re pretty sure J-Law wasn’t trying to turn our attention to the fact that the cakewalk is a very easy dance from the old times where the winners were presented with a massive cake. It all started out when slaves took the piss out of plantation owners' dancing. But she did. And that’s just another reason we heart her.
