When you’re one of the world’s highest paid actresses, it’s expected that you’ll probably go all out for your engagement party. But that definitely wasn’t the case for Jennifer Lawrence and her art dealer fiancé Cooke Maroney - who reportedly kept this weekend’s New York soiree rather laidback, opting instead to be surrounded by friends and family in an unflashy affair.
According toE! News, the whole affair was very low-key and took place at an apartment building, with a source telling the website it was 'as if they were going to a party at someone's apartment'. And even though the pair were suitably dressed to impress, the couple arrived at the bash together in… an Uber. Jen and Cooke were first linked back in 2018, with their relationship being kept mostly off the radar - unlike her previous (and public) romances with actor Nicholas Hoult and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
Pictures of the event are scarce, so unfortunately we don’t yet know who was on the guest list (though we're hoping Adele made an apperance, following their recent raucous night out together). But on Monday, the styling duo Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson shared a sweet snap of the soon-to-be bride, with the caption, 'Here she comes. We couldn't be happier and more excited for #jenniferlawrence to become a #MRS.. this weekend we toasted Jen and her groom to be... Too good of a time was had by all.’ Her natural makeup was thanks to make-up artist Fulvia Farolfi and her hair was styled into an elegant updo by Ben Skirvin.
Buy JLaw's Engagement Party Dress
Juliana Dress by L. Wells
In pink or white from Moda Operandi.
Though the party was to celebrate their engagement, Jennifer looked good enough for her wedding day - but was probably helped by the fact she was actually wearing a wedding dress. As if enough talent doesn’t run in her family, the powder pink dress - by brand L. Wells Bridal - was designed by her cousin, Lauren Wells. The Oscar winner completed the angelic, and unconventional, outfit with a matching satin Roger Vivier purse, earrings from Fred Leighton and Casadei shoes. If you have a wedding coming up soon, or just want to look as ethereal as Jen, luckily you can buy the exact dress - from the brand's spring/summer 2019 collection - from Moda Operandi, in either pink or white, for a cool £2,100.
It isn’t the first time JLaw has worn a wedding dress from her cousin’s brand, as in 2017 she donned the label's bridal Alice Dress to the premiere of Faces Places. We're now just left wondering how on earth Jennifer is going to top these previous wedding gowns when she walks down the aisle!
