Taylor and Selena? Tina Fey and Amy Poehler? Paris and Nicole? Sorry, ladies, but right now, the A-list wo-mance (like a bromance, but female) that we can’t get enough of is between Jennifer Lawrence and Adele.
The pair’s friendship first came to our attention when they were photographed in a taxi with actress Emma Stone late last year – a night that, as Jennifer later revealed in an interview, ended up just like the average ill-fated girls’ night.
Now, J. Law has opened up about her friendship with the singer in a beautiful essay for Time magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People’ list, in which Adele is (naturally) categorised as an ‘icon.’
In the piece, Jennifer explains how she met Adele at the Oscars in 2013 - that's the year she was awarded the Best Actress gong (and fell up the stairs in Dior couture.) ‘I remember sneaking backstage while she performed “Skyfall,” trying to squeeze a ball gown past a pile of ropes and cables just to get a little closer,' she explains, revealing that Oscar-winning actresses can be fan-girls just like us.
She also tells of how 21 changed her life (same, babes), writing 'I felt understood, I felt stronger, and above all, I hadn’t sung in front of a mirror with a hairbrush since Destiny’s Child.'
Jennifer keeps the compliments coming, describing Adele's intelligence [...] 500-year-old wisdom [...] patience and kindess all wrapped up in the tough skin of a damn gangster,' before ending with a sweet insight into the singer's personal life, revealing 'what a wonderful partner and friend she is' - as well as the fact that 'she makes her son's Halloween costumes.'
It's enough to make us want to start lip-syncing to Someone Like You with emotive - yet celebratory - hand gestures.
