Little has been divulged about Darren Aronofsky's new film 'Mother!', though the disturbing trailer was recently released.
But the film's lead (and Aronofsky's girlfriend) Jennifer Lawrence has piqued interest with an interview in Vogue, in which she relays (amongst other things) the difficulties involved in performing such harrowing scenes. She actually broke a rib in one because she was hyperventilating so much - "I ended up on Oxygen", she told Vogue.
She said of the movie 'I had to go to a darker place than I've ever been in my life... I didn't know if I'd be able to come out OK'. Aware of her affection for a certain tv show, the film crew created a 'Kardashian Tent' as a place for the acress to escape to between scenes. Plastered with pictures of the Kardashians and featuring screens playing clips of Keeping Up With The Kardashians on a loop, Jennifer's 'Happy Place' also featured gumballs (because no happy place is complete without them).
Apparently Aronofsky wasn't too impressed by Jennifer's taste for reality tv - 'He just finds it so vastly disappointing.'
Jennifer has been pretty candid about her love of KUWTK in the past, and even told Vanity Fair a few years ago that she 'would just rather have someone who has the same taste in reality tv' (she'll have to work on getting Darren on side then). She admitted in the same interview to preparing for her role in American Hustle by watching The Real Housewives, another reality tv classic.
We may all need a Kardashian tent after watching the trailer for 'Mother!', let alone the film, which comes out next month. You can read the full interview with Jennifer Lawrence in the September issue of Vogue.
