Yesterday, the world lost a legend. Prince Rogers Nelson, 57, was found dead in his estate in Minnesota yesterday, and the world went into mourning.
All over the world, tributes have been pouring in but that cast of the Broadway show The Colour Purple really nailed it. With Jennifer Hudson taking the lead, the whole production broke character after last night's show to sing Purple Rain to a sobbing audience.
'Today we lost a legend.' Jennifer said. 'He was a good friend of mine. Prince. He was very dear to all of us. Not too long ago he called me while we were here and he asked me to come out to see him because he was writing his book. He said you can bring all your cast members along and I took all my great amazing people - aren't they awesome? - we all went out and we were honoured to be in his presence one last time and we got to have that moment. So tonight, if you guys don't mind, we would like you to join us in honouring Prince. He said his music will live on in his music so we want to keep him alive today with a song...'
And then... holy biscuits... what a performance.
Rest in peace you wonderful weirdo.
