With the level of obsession still surrounding Friends (as if Friends merch hasn't been a staple in Primark since what feels like the dawn of time, but we digress).

The evidence is clear: the sitcom is still as loved now as it was back then. So it's no wonder that the internet went into complete shock when it was rumoured that Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were dating irl, finally. The memes have been non-stop, and most news outlets have covered it.

And while we'd love to tell you it's true - come on, who wouldn't like to see them get together?! - we're here to deliver some sad truth... It's not. David's reps have actually said the rumours have no truth whatsoever to the Independent. And Grazia reached out to Jennifer's rep for comment, who told us: 'They are NOT dating or romantically involved. The whole narrative created by UK tabloids is fabricated.' Prior to this, celebrity gossip Instagram account DeuxMoi said on their Instagram stories that they had on good authority that the rumours were just that, rumours.

But they are, undoubtedly, still the best of friends, as Jennifer revealed in her recent cover interview withInStylethat David recently dropped by to visit, with his daughter, and that they both promised they'd see each other more often. Cute!

Of course, these rumours probably kickstarted because David did let slip during the Friends reunion that he did actually fancy Jennifer while they were playing the iconic pair Ross and Rachel. 'The first season I had a major crush on Jen,' the actor revealed. 'And I think we both, at some point, were crushing hard on each other but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.' Jennifer added, 'We just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.'

So, sorry to break your hearts, but looks like it's just that: an on-screen romance we're still wishing would progress into real life - all these years later.
