While the pain of a break up is something we've all experienced, it's a little tricker to wholeheartedly relate to a celebrity break up. As fascinated by them as we are, navigating a separation beneath a global microscope is a very different, terrifying, ballgame.
We've seen bad ones (Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna's split was anything but amicable), and surface-level good ones (we're looking at 'conscious uncouplers' Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, here). But two months after her separation from Channing Tatum, it seems Jenna Dewan has nailed the healthy, ego-free way of going about a public break up.
In what she's describing as a 'new normal', Jenna is growing and moving forward in her newly single life, but the main take away is that it's all a process that you have no choice but to learn as you go - a crucial part of the transition period that many of us forget to allow ourselves.
Her post-relationship life is a 'a new normal where there is a lot of love', Jenna said in an interview with Harpers Bazaar. 'We’re just getting used to it. We're in a very positive energy together, trying to be the best parents to Everly. We support each other.'
To announce the split, both Jenna and Channing shared a joint statement on their social media profiles that read: 'Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly'. Thankfully, it seems the sentiment hasn't changed.
Contrary to the approach famed most recently by Khloe Kardashian, Jenna's outlook and fresh motivation to better herself isn't motivated by 'revenge', or even by her marriage at all. It's purely about her, and we're here for it.
'The moves I'm making are completely not related to my marriage or separation, interestingly enough. I was always very happy being a wife', she said. Jenna explained that those big existential questions like 'Who are you? What do you want to give to the world? What excites you?' have been simmering, however. 'so I really wanted to expand my life, and myself. And that was my journey, no one else's'.
