2016 was probably the worst time for celebrity splits: Brangelina, Hiddleswift, Talvin.

And now, on the ‘most depressing day of the year’, it’s been revealed that Jemima Kirke has parted ways with her husband of seven years, former lawyer Michael Mosberg, People confirm.

The 31-year-old actress and painter, who’s most famous for her portrayal as bohemian New Yorker Jessa Johansson in Girls, spoke little of her private life and rehab experience up until recently.

In an interview with The Telegraph last year Kirke described meeting Mosberg, 45, in rehab for ‘everything…partying’ in her early twenties. And also noted how her partner had adjusted to her casually drinking again in social situations.

‘Mike was nervous at first. He said, “Look,I would never tell you what to do; you are an adult – just don’t f— it up.” He had every right to be scared, he knew my story. But I was a different person back then. I was in my early 20s, I didn’t have children.’

The pair married in 2009 and share two children together: daughter Rafaella Israel, 6, and son Memphis, 4. The news comes in the midst of promoting the sixth and final series of Girls.
