Relatives of Michael Jackson are reportedly angry that Janet Jackson has refused to speak out following explosive documentary Leaving Neverland. The two-part documentary, which aired in the UK on Channel 4 last week, follows shocking new claims of sexual abuse from the popstar by two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who Michael befriended when they were children. And now, according to The Sun, relatives are upset that Janet – as MJ’s most senior living relative - has not hit back at the four-hour film.
A source close to the Jacksons told the newspaper: “In the past week there have been discussions among the Jacksons about the documentary and how it will affect Michael’s legacy. Everyone wanted Janet to release a statement condemning the documentary because she is the most senior member of the family after Michael. They feel she could have done more to support him against the allegations.” It is thought, according to the source, that Janet has kept her silence as she wishes to keep her career separate to the allegations. (She has a 15-date Las Vegas residency to focus on in May.) The insider concluded: “Ultimately, she doesn’t know what went on and doesn’t feel like it’s her place to say anything.”
His daughter, Paris, has since responded to the documentary, where she chose to stick up for her dad's 'good heart'. The 20-year-old wrote on Twitter: "Yeah, they do that to everyone with a good heart and tries to make a difference but do you really think that it's possible to tear his name down? Like do you truly believe they stand a chance? Relax and have peace." In the documentary, Safechuck, 42, claims a 29-year-old Jackson taught him to masturbate in France when he was only 10. He said they went on to have sex 'hundreds' of times and that they even staged a fake wedding together.
