We were all very excited for last year’s Strictly Come Dancing when it was announced that Jamie Laing would be sporting sequins on the dancefloor. But, alas, everything went wrong - as Jamie never actually made it on the show. The reality star tore a ligament in his foot just days before the series start date - which meant he was replaced on the series by ex-Emmerdale actor Kevin Fletcher. (Who actually went on to win the show with professional Oti Mabuse. Talk about fate.)

But hooray! As according to reports, Jamie could be rejoining the competition later this year. ‘Jamie has been in contact with the BBC and has confirmed he’s fighting fit and that he’s more than able to take part in the next series,’ a TV insider told The Sun. ‘Having a place on TV’s most prestigious dancing show, then having it taken away through something that was no fault of his own was a bitter pill to swallow. Knowing he can come back and give it another shot has made him really excited.’

At the time, the reality star said he was understandably ‘devastated’ about the injury. ‘I’m absolutely devastated that I’m unable to continue in the competition,’ Jamie said in a statement. ‘I would like to wish the lovely couples all the very best and hope they enjoy their time on the show to the fullest.’

Jamie’s involvement in the show originally came as a surprise to some, as it’s long been believed that the show had barred reality stars. ‘It is a surprising U-turn from the BBC and Strictly,’ a source previously told The Sun. ‘They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.’ If that's the case then maybe, along with Jamie, we’ll soon see our first Love Island star hit the dance floor.
