Since Donald Trump was elected as President of the United States last year, it's fair to say that we've become pretty familiar with his eldest daughter Ivanka. What with the controversy surrounding her fashion line and her previously undefined role in the White House - plus Trump's propensity to use her as the so-called 'acceptable face' of his administration - the 35-year-old businesswoman has become a front page fixture.
So, by now, we all know exactly what Ivanka Trump looks like: a glossy blonde blow dry, tasteful make-up, colour-block clothes and... brown eyes?
What you might not have noticed, however, is the fact that Ivanka has a propensity to switch up her eye colour (as Refinery29 have cleverly pointed out). And no, it's not a trick of the light, or some optical witchcraft: the First Daughter seems to be a fan of good old fashioned coloured contact lenses, which change her deep brown eyes to a brighter green (but still believably natural) colour.
For a case in point, compare the below photos. The left image shows Ivanka attending a listening session on human trafficking at the White House, sans coloured lenses. On the right, her eyes appear noticeably lighter and with a green hue as she speaks at the Fortune Most Powerful Women summit.
Now, let's compare and contrast a photo opp from Ivanka's much-memed meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (brown!) with a still from a TV appearance on ABC's Good Morning America (green!)
And at the White House... and at the Met Gala a few years back...
It seems that Ivanka sticks with her natural eye colour for White House engagements but opts for green for TV or red carpet appearances (Esquire even noted that on the day of the Republican National Conference last year, she switched colours in the same day...)
Coloured contacts are certainly an unusually outré beauty choice from the First Daughter, but who hasn't been tempted to mix up their usual look once in a while?
