Arise, Beyhive! As Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tourkicked off last night, all anyone wants to know is if Beyoncé's foot is injured. The Grammy-winnning superstar took to the stage in Stockholm and attendees were surprised to see that she wasn't performing many of her signature dance moves.Beyoncéis well known for her energetic and hard-hitting performances, but she was reportedly more restrained during her Sweden show; taking more breaks, being given a helping hand by her dancers and opening the show with a series of ballads.
Fans took to Twitter to share their concern for the singer. One fan commented,'I think her foot has a more serious injury. In some of the clips she looks like she wants to go off dancing but is restricting herself.' Whilst another said, 'You can tell she's being extra careful with her foot (probably doctors orders.)
It is also worth noting that Beyoncé has been performing in the music industry, singing and dancing, for over 20 years. So, it’s kind of unsurprising she’s sustained a foot injury this far into her career carrying the music industry.
Is Beyoncé's foot actually injured?
Well, it was rumoured that Beyoncé suffered a foot injury and has been in recovery from surgery since the start of the year. The whispers only heightened after fans noticed her struggling during her private performance in Dubai at Atlantis The Royal opening in January. At the time, culture critic Gerrick Kennedy shared the news of her injury. 'BEYLANTIS was quite the unexpected show,' he tweeted. 'That voice is just getting better and better. Mama was doing her good singing. Mind-blowing to see her and Blue Ivy perform together. Even more in awe to hear she did this after foot surgery. It’s unclear what injury led Bey to the operating table, but it’s good to know she’s doing better.'
However, the biggest clue has come from Coldplay's lead vocalist and Beyoncé BFF, Chris Martin. Whilst it's an unlikely pairing, they are close friends and Martin's recent interview with Conan O’Brien on his Conan Needs A Friend podcast, seemed to confirm Beyoncé's injury. 'You know she’s my hero and sister and everything,' said Martin about the singer, 'but it’s funny because I’m like, "I have a knee problem from the stage," and she’ll say, "Yeah me too."' As expected, this sent the Beyhive into a frenzy, with fans believing this was confirmation that Bey performed her Dubai show while recovering from surgery.
What foot surgery did Beyoncé have?
Although the singer hasn't confirmed anything from Chris' comments, it seems likely that she is injured and had a surgery of some kind- but the details are still unknown. We just hope that Queen Bey is taking care of herself as she enters this very gruelling 40-date world tour.
