Every year, dreams are dashed when the winners of the Oscars are announced. But there is some small consolation for the acting and directing nominees who lose out, as everyone gets given a special Academy Awards goodie bag to take home, usually worth in excess of $100,000.
Although not officially sanctioned by the Academy, who actually sued the swag distributors Distinctive Assets in 2016, the practice still continues, with the ludicrously wealthy taking home equally expensive and lavish gifts (holiday to Tanzania, anyone?)
This year’s 26 acting and directing nominees – who include Timothee Chalamet, Gary Oldman, Laura Metcalf, Saoirse Ronan, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand and Octavia Spencer - will also receive a swag bag worth a rumoured $100,000, with an eclectic selection of gifts including but not limited to…
