Last week, a rightfully disgruntled Iggy Azalea Tweeted her displeasure with Eminem rapping about raping her:
But it seem she had the last laugh as, last night, she was awarded both the best rap/hip-hop artist gong, and the rap/hip-hop album gong, beating Eminem twice.
She accepted the award in an all-black tux, saying: ‘It just means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this, it’s amazing.’
She continued, thanking her fans and saying that this award was her inspiration ‘to move to America and pursue my dreams.’
Less of the gushing, though, as she performed her smash hit* Fancy* (joined by Charli XCX) in a tux, too. Delivering her opening rap from behind a stand and surrounded by cat logos emblazoned with the slogan ‘POWER,’ then spending the second song of her performance, Beg For It, just nailing line after line and getting the whole crowd to dance, she seemed to be taking (some) cues from Hillary Clinton’s impending battle for presidency and we were so deeply into it. Pussy power is real!
Later, she Tweeted a whole lot of love for all the other female acts there, especially J-Lo, who she performed that song Booty with.
Other big news from the AMAs? Selena Gomez delivered such a heart-felt rendition of her song The Heart Wants What It Wants that Taylor Swift cried. Plus, the pair sat with Lorde – perhaps burying the hatchet after last year’s feud between Selena and Lorde.
