According to reports, Snapchat has just quietly purchased Seene, a ‘3D photo app maker’ which boasts technology which could allow users to take and share 3D selfies.

It has been suggested that the app could allow Snapchat to develop a host of new features including 3D photo formats and potentially virtual reality capabilities.

So this means you could soon be receiving 3D Snapchats that move and respond to your touch.

Is there anything scarier? (Possibly.)

You might think that the masterminds at Snapchat have finally lost it with this acquisition, but whatever they’re doing is obviously working – the app has recently surpassed Twitter in active daily users, and has reportedly raised $1.8billion in the last five months.

So get ready for 3D unicorn filters, and hopefully nothing more sinister, very soon.
