Hillary Clinton has announced that she too is jumping on the millennial bandwagon and starting a podcast. We don’t know what to expect but we are pretty excited. The podcast will air on iHeartMedia but the title and air date are still unknown.
The former Secretary of State has announced that her podcast will include interviews a variety of different speakers. According to the outlet Politico, this will likely include a selection of politicians, celebrities, world leaders and influential speakers with ideas that fall in line Clinton’s personal beliefs and agenda.
Although Clinton is not an active member of the democratic party, she still continues to push for democracy and currently holds the post of Chancellor for Queen Mary University in Belfast Upon accepting the position she stated: "The University is making waves internationally for its research and impact and I am proud to be an ambassador and help grow its reputation for excellence".
As the 2020 US Presidential election approaches, a podcast should give Clinton a sufficient platform to comment on the proceedings and the Republican and Democratic candidates. Clinton herself is not running for President in 2020. After losing out to Trump in 2016, she announced in 2019 that she would not be running again. Although, a tweet from Trump encouraging her to run did illicit the response: ‘Don’t tempt me’ from Clinton.
This news follows the global sales success of Hillary co-authored novel with her daughter Chelsea Clinton: The Book Of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience. This collaboration has already sold 300,000 copies in its first week and the book debuted at number two on The New York Times Best Seller list for merged print and e-book nonfiction, for the week of October 20, 2019.
This book could give us an insight into the topics that Clinton might discuss on her upcoming podcast. This platform could also be utilised to celebrate female achievement and those who have worked to make the world and specifically the US a place of equality.
