Reality TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are already reportedly thinking about the future of their first-born child, due later this autumn, by choosing a baby name based on what social media handles they can trademark now.
Speaking on the Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast on Wednesday, Pratt told the host that the couple had already ruled out a few names based on what was available with the surname 'Pratt' on Instagram. He also stressed - albeit in his hyperbolic, pinch-of-salt manner - that the fame-obsessed duo will be passing on their most infamous trait to their newborn.
'This kid will have an iPhone at birth,' he said. 'I’m gonna teach this kid how to Snap when they’re born, like, ‘Put your finger here.’ You walk around, everybody’s making their own content all day long. We live in a new world where everyone’s a fame wh*re, so I’m happy to let him be at an advanced level. I would just like my baby to be a professional content maker.'
Pratt and his wife Heidi met on MTV reality series The Hills back in 2006. They were one of the first reality TV couples to market themselves as a joint brand, coining the portmanteau nickname 'Speidi' for themselves (this was the era of Bennifer and Brangelina, after all), and gaining a reputation for their over-the-top, usually staged behaviour. They've since made a career out of being reality 'personalities' appearing on two series of British Celebrity Big Brother and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. So it wouldn't be a big stretch to think that they'd like to go down the 'making our kids famous' route.
Surprisingly, the fame-hungry duo wouldn't be the first celebrity couple to try to trademark their child's name: A-listers including the Beckhams, Kardashians and the Knowles have all done the same for their offspring.
