No one can lace Heidi Klum’s boots when it comes to Halloween costumes. Every 31 October, the supermodel, 51, puts our feeble efforts – flimsy witch hats or uninspiring cat ears – to complete and utter shame.
For more than two decades, Heidi has rocked some iconic costumes at her annual Halloween bash, ranging from _Shrek’_s Princess Fiona, to a worm, which left her unable to hold anything the entire evening. The dedication is admirable.
‘I don't want to ever let any of my Halloween fans down. I always really try to come up with something that is unique and different and either surprises people or shocks people,’ Heidi said in a recent interview as she discussed her love for the spooky season. While we ponder on how she could possibly outdo herself for Halloween ’24, here is a complete breakdown of Heidi Klum’s weird, wonderful and whacky costumes.
All Of Heidi Klum’s Halloween Costumes
2023: Peacock
Last year, Heidi partnered with Cirque Du Soleil to transform into a peacock. ‘@cirquedusoleil we did it [sic] thanks for making this Peacock’s Halloween dreams come true,’ she wrote on Instagram.
2022: Worm
For ‘Heidiween’ 2022, Heidi celebrated in the ‘Big Wormy Apple’. Crediting the efforts of Prosthetic Renaissance and sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her outlandish transformation, she wrote, ‘Thank you to the entire @prorenfx team for another unbelievable year. You guys are the best and I love working with you.’
2021
Covid meant that Heidi had to cancel her Halloween party for the second year running, but the pandemic seemingly only upped her creativity, as she released a spooky mini film that someone branded ‘better than any horror movie’.
During the year we were confined to our houses, Heidi enjoyed spending 31 October with her family and got them involved in her creativities from home. She naturally delighted her fanbase in the process, sharing what they came up with on Instagram.
2019: Prosthetic Alien
Just when we thought Heidi couldn't top any of her previous looks, the model rocked up to her annual party dressed as an alien, a transformation which took her a massive 10 hours with prosthetics.
2018: Princess Fiona
2017: Thriller-era Michael Jackson
Heidi wore a near-identical outfit to that from Michael Jackson's 1982 Thriller music video.
2016: Heidi's clones
Nah, you're not seeing things. The star turned up with her 'clones' in 2016.
2015: Jessica Rabbit
Heidi channelled the leading lady from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? in 2015.
2014: Butterfly
Heidi spread her wings in 2014 to become a gigantic, multi-hued butterfly.
2013: Older version of herself
Long before that FaceApp fad that morphed us all into old people, Heidi hobbled into her 2013 soiree dressed as her elderly self. Prosthetics on point.
2012: Cleopatra
Casual as Cleopatra in 2012. This photo was taken during her fitting as she cancelled her annual party in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. She said, 'When Sandy hit and I was like, "I cannot do a Halloween party. I can't have fun when so many people's lives have been destroyed."'
However, she threw a belated bash in December which was repurposed to benefit the American Red Cross.
2011: Human Cadaver/Ape
Heidi quite literally stripped back her look in 2011, even turning up to the event with two men dressed as surgeons in tow. Iconic.
Then, for the second do, Heidi and now ex-husband Seal captured the zeitgeist the year Rise of the Planet of the Apes was released in cinemas.
2010: Robot
Good luck finding a pair of stilts and metallic purple catsuit at your local fancy dress shop…
2009: Crow
Ornithophobics, look away NOW. Heidi wore an intricate crow costume to her 2009 party.
2008: Hindu goddess
Kali, the Hindu goddess of death and time, anyone?
2007: Cat
Approximately 9000x better than our attempts at a cat, which are typically Karen-Smith-from-Mean-Girls levels of basic.
2006: Forbidden Fruit
At her '06 bash, Heidi dressed as the Forbidden Fruit, with then-husband Seal rocking up as Eve.
2005: Vampire
Kind of like Cher got into a fight in the bin liner aisle. We totally mean that as the highest compliment, though.
2004: Witch
Heidi gave us an inspired take on the classic witch back in 2004.
2003: Gold alien
Sort of like an extra from Gladiator, no? We're into it.
2002: Betty Boop
Heidi channelled her inner Betty Boop in 2002.
2001: Lady Godiva
Heidi made quite the entrance on a horse.
2000: Leather-clad dirndl
'My first Halloween party started in 2000 as I thought someone needs to be throwing a great Halloween party… so I did!!! Since I’m German, I thought a traditional dirndl in patent leather with pigtails would be fun!' Heidi wrote on Instagram.
