Cara Delevingne has released a single called I Feel Everything, which features on the soundtrack of her new film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Her musical debut will feature on the score of this Luc Besson blockbuster alongside Wyclef Jean, David Bowie and Bob Marley.

First things first, Cara can sing. The bluesy number was produced by Pharrell and puts the girl through her paces. Though the song is anything but remarkable, with cheesy lyrics (see: ‘My love is calling, You can't stop me roaring, I'm soaring’) what is notable is the lack of auto-tune.

As Cara goes from success to success, winning awards for her modelling, scoring parts in Hollywood flicks, writing poetry and even landing the latest Puma campaign, it seems she’s unstoppable. But, it begs the question, does she need to be doing so much?

Multi-Hyphenates are nearly always women. Female musicians are encouraged to launch beauty lines and diversify into modelling or becoming UN spokespeople, but is it necessary? Is it just a symptom of how female stars are forced to extend their career’s lifespan in ways male stars are not obliged to? Have you ever heard of Channing Tatum referred to as a model-slash-dancer-slash-actor? The answer is no. Tatum, like other male stars, is allowed to have a career trajectory that flows freely without comment. Cara, may be happy playing the role of slashie, and she’s surely doing it with aplomb, but is it just another emblem of how the world categorises female stars differently?
