Last night saw the NME awards, and One Direction fans can breathe a sigh of relief because Harry Styles is no longer Villain of the Year – that crown has been solemnly bestowed to UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

It’s about time someone else took up the mantle, because Harry’s won it for two years running, and was even nominated again this year alongside David Cameron, Taylor Swift, Russell Brand (who presented the awards ceremony back in the day) and Bono.

In terms of the rest of the awards, NME has decided to honour the old school bands, with Kasabian taking home both of the big awards for Best British Band and Best Album (for 48:13, released last year), Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys bagging Hero of the Year for the second year running, and Jamie T winning three gongs for Best Video (Zombie), best track (again,* Zombie)* and Music Moment of the Year for his comeback (including hit single* Zombie*).

Bit of a noughties and nineties time lapse, especially once Suede had collected their charmingly named Godlike Genius award, while Jarvis Cocker applauded. We half expected someone’s Sony Walkman to slide out of their manbag.

Anyway, here’s the full list of winners from last night.
