Halsey has spoken out about the devastating miscarriage she suffered in 2015, saying it left her feeling demoralised and inadequate.
The singer explained that she struggled to perform as a symbol of 'femininity and empowerment' straight after the devastating loss as she didn't feel good enough.
'It's the most inadequate I've ever felt,' she told The Guardian. 'Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can't do the one thing I'm biologically put on this earth to do.
'Then I have to go onstage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralising.'
Halsey's comments come soon after releasing new track More, which details her desire to have children.
While she's been brutally honest in the song, such openness hasn't come easy to the singer as she faced so much online abuse after speaking honestly about her miscarriages.
In 2018, Halsey recalled the horrifying moment she miscarried on-stage shortly after her endometriosis diagnosis.
'Before I could really figure out what that meant to me and what that meant for my future, for my career, for my life, for my relationship, the next thing I knew I was on stage miscarrying in the middle of my concert,' she said.
After the devastating experience, the 25-year-old star made the decision to have surgery and freeze her eggs.
Now, she says, having children is 'looking like something that’s gonna happen for me. That’s a miracle.'
