From bee-sting facials to that 'conscious un-coupling' press release to pretty much anything that's ever been published on her site Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow hasn't been afraid to share her unique lifestyle advice with the world over the years - and the public reaction hasn't always been positive.

In a new interview with Net-A-Porter's The Edit, the actress has hit back at the criticism she receives, claiming that the backlash has 'a few layers to it.'

'People were fine with me as an actress, but with Goop it was like, "Stay in your lane,"' she said. 'Women in general get a lot of pushback, especially if you're successful and attractive... I'm not saying I'm attractive. I mean when you're considered attractive.'

The star also alluded to her infamous 'conscious uncoupling' announcement, released to mark the amicable end of her marriage with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, describing the phrase as 'dorky' but 'worthwhile.'

'People are coming around,' she said. 'I know it's a dorky term, but it's very worthwhile. I'm always the person who gets s--- at first, but then later people say, "Hey, maybe that's a good idea." I don't mind.'

You do you, Gwyneth. You do you.

While the actress is famed for her strict diet regime, she did reveal that she sometimes gives herself some slack. 'I can’t be on a cleanse all the time,' she told The Edit. 'I did one for seven weeks last year and it was awful. My first meal of the day is normally lunch; I keep it light on carbs so my energy levels don’t peak and valley through the day. At home, I loosen the reins: a glass of wine, maybe a baguette dripping in cheese, some fries. […] On vacation, I eat what I want – and there’s no exercising, either.'
