In a theft that could almost have been masterminded by Home Alone’s Sticky Bandits, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop pop-up store in New York has been raided.

£115,000 worth of jewellery – including a Bvlgari bracelet worth £66,000 and three Rolex watches worth £21,000 – were smashed-and-grabbed on Saturday afternoon in the Big Apple. Sources say three men ran into the Gwyn’s flagship store while customers were shopping and while staff were distracted, and forced the locks open on the cabinets to steal the expensive accessories.

A spokesperson for Goop said no-one was hurt in the robbery and that the shop still remains open: “There was an isolated incident Saturday afternoon involving a very limited number of items, which was reported to the NYPD.

“While the store was crowded during one of our busiest days, thankfully the NYPD responded quickly, our customers and staff are safe, and we remain open for business with proper security precautions in place.”

Gwyneth was not at the store when the theft took place, but had visited it last week when it launched in Manhattan’s Time Warner Centre. It was created based on the Goop lifestyle website to transport customers into “the real-life representation of goop’s digital world.”
