Don’t speak. I know just what you’re thinking… I can’t believe this could be the end.
After 13 years of marriage, Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani are filing for a divorce. You may remember Stefani as the bindi-wearing lead singer of ska pop punk 90s band No Doubt. Or as the lipstick-clad solo star behind the hit Hollaback Girl, who spent much of 2004 being followed around by a group of Japanese dancers known as the The Harajuku Girls.
You may remember Gavin Rossdale as the father of Daisy Lowe, or the lead singer of Bush or even as a walk-on in Zoolander. But most of you will probably remember the two of them as one of pop music’s power couples. But, sadly, no more.
The couple, who put in their files for divorce at the same time, have put out this public statement:
‘While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.’
Gavin Rossdale tweeted last Wednesday, ‘Bye bye London. Flying home’ – presumably following the decision to separate. The couple are citing irreconcilable differences. But really, Gavin and Gwen, I don’t need your reasons. Don’t tell me cause it hurts.
