It might be a full-on 10 years since The OC premiered, but we still hold it very close to our hearts, and so it comes as a bit of a sharp shock that Adam Brody has essentially killed off the character of Seth Cohen.
The actor, who's gone on to do countless other films and TV shows that we'll never quite love as much as The OC, was asked in a recent interview where he think his loveable, chatty/nerdy character Seth would be right now. 'If I had to predict, I'd say Seth Cohen is dead,' he responded.
Why on earth? Because he fell by the wayside and turned to a life of crime along with Ryan and his muscly neck? Because he ate one too many bagels and had to be wheeled out to the pool-house to spend the rest of his days being filmed by a reality show, only to fall victim to a cardiac arrest? No, because he went to Mexico. 'I think he'd be going down to Mexico and probably had a car accident. It wasn't any fault of his own but, yeah, knowing what I know now about Seth and his poor decision-making, that's my guess,' he said. In a way, it makes sense. As all devotees of The OC should know, bad stuff happens in Mexico.
But it gets more tragic. When the interviewer scrapped their question of what indie-lover Seth would be listening to right now because, as well as being fictional, he's now dead, Adam wouldn't let his theme go, saying: 'He's probably hanging out in heaven watching Jimi Hendrix and Lou Reed live. He's probably getting the best concert ever!'
Something tells us that still being known as Seth Cohen 10 years down the line gets on Adam's nerves, big time. It's ok, though, he's cute when he's mad.
