We've had the Globes, the SAGs and the BAFTAs, and the Oscars are just days away. With the stars of the big screen dominating the red carpet in recent weeks, it was high time for the best and the brightest in the music industry to make their presence felt. Enter the Grammys: the biggest night in every musician's calendar.
Sartorially speaking, the Grammys tends to be an unpredictable affair - remember J.Lo's plunging green Versace gown (aka. the original 'Internet breaker'), Destiny's Child's matching sequinned ensembles or the time when Nicki Minaj turned up dressed like a priest? This year's ceremony was no exception, with Lady Gaga opting for a David Bowie-inspired ensemble complete with fiery orange wig (the singer took the stage to perform a heartfelt tribute to Bowie on the night), Taylor Swift choosing a clashing fuschia and coral ensemble and Zendaya looking effortlessly ace in a black tuxedo.
Grammys 2016: The Red Carpet Trends
Taking the plunge
It seems like the A-list just can't get enough of the deep V trend, which we've seen on red carpets from London to Los Angeles. Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato all opted for plunging styles - Bella and Demi kept it simple in black, while Selena's sequinned style was the mermaid dress of dreams.
Cut outs
It's time to start doing a lot of crunches, because ab-baring cut outs (often teamed with a plunging neckline, a la Selena and Bella) were everywhere at the Grammys. We love Taylor's colour-clash two piece ensemble.
Pale hues
It seems that spring has truly sprung (or at least it has in California...) Ellie Goulding and Florence Welch both went for dresses in delicate sorbet shades of pale pink, while Chrissy Teigen (who is acing it in the maternity style stakes right now) chose an all-white gown complete with embellished cape.
Thigh high slits
A clutch of stars seemed to take their styling inspiration from that Angelina Jolie dress - the thigh high slit seemed to be the most popular style of the evening, worn by Bella Hadid, Anna Kendrick and Alessandra Ambrosio.
