Well, this is about as far from Marnie as it gets

Allison Williams’ singing voice got quite a bit of airtime in the most recent season of Girls, and it clearly caught the attention of some very important people because she’s just been cast as Peter Pan in a huge live TV musical which will air in December.

The live TV musical apparently used to be a thing in the beginnings of TV and made a return last year with The Sound Of Music, starring Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer. The critics said it was god-awful, but it was watched by 19 million people in the US so it stands to reason that NBC would want to capitalise on those numbers with another live production this year. Hopefully this will be less horrendous.

Legendary actor Christopher Walken will play Captain Hook, although there’s no word yet on who will play Wendy.

If you can’t remember what Marnie sounds like singing, here’s a YouTube clip of her doing Norah Jones’ Don't Know Why to refresh your memory:

Allison says it’s a ‘dream come true’ to play Peter Pan, and that she’s wanted to play the part since she was around three years old. Aw, bless.

Peter Pan Live will air on 4 December in the US and is based on the 1954 Broadway musical of the same name. No word yet on whether the special will be broadcast in the UK, but surely UK viewers will be able to see Marnie as Peter somewhere online at least. Petition for same starts now.
