When we first discovered that Gilmore Girls was making a comeback after nine years away from our television screens, we could not contain our excitement.
And with the anticipation of returning to Stars Hallow with the help of Netflix’s upcoming four-part revival series, we have never felt so nostalgic.
So imagine how we felt when a featurette aptly titled ‘We’re Back’ was unveiled on Netflix this week. The special episode debuted on October 4 in celebration of the cult show’s anniversary and saw the inhabitants of Stars Hallow reflect on their favourite memories from Gilmore Girls.
But what we weren’t prepared for was a tearful lump in our throats. Actors Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham, Milo Ventimiglia and Scott Patterson each reminisce on the show, recounting their fondest memories against the backdrop of the much-loved Stars Hollow set.
Luke, sorry Scott, revealed, “The fondest memory I have from this show is the very first scene, the very first day I was on set. And I just thought, ‘This is gonna work.'”
Accompanied by old clips from previous seasons, the actors are visibly moved to have returned to the set for the upcoming revival of the show.
The featurette also plays tribute to the late Edward Herrmann who played the role as Rory’s grandfather Richard Gilmore.
Kelly Bishop, who plays Rory’s grandmother reflected on their time working together in the newly released clip: “We had such a good time for so many years on this show”.
Gilmore Girls was undoubtedly the show we all grew up with and it seems the cast have all grown up too with Rory and Paris looking super chic and Rory’s past boyfriends having definitely caught our eye for a second time around.
Watch the featurette below but be warned, it may cause a lump in the throat:
