It's taken her over twenty years, but Geri Horner last night apologised to the Spice Girls for walking out on the band in 1998. During the performance at London's Wembley Stadium, Ginger Spice made an announcement to Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and 70,000 eager fans, explaining, "It suddenly occurred to me this afternoon, I need to say something I should have said a long time ago: I’m sorry. I’m sorry I left. I was just being a brat. It is so good to be back with the girls that I love."
Geri walked away from the girl band in 1998, claiming she was suffering from exhaustion and depression. The band continued without her as a four-piece, releasing number-one single Goodbye about her departure, but two years later they went on a hiatus.
The star - who is married to Christian Horner - later admitted in her Giving You Everything documentary that she walked away because she didn't feel needed anymore, saying, “I felt I didn’t belong any more. They didn’t need me any more, really, and I definitely felt very redundant."
The Spice Girls finished off their UK and Ireland reunion tour last night at London's Wembley Stadium, after performing 13 incredible shows. Geri took to Instagram to thank fans for coming in a video, saying, "So we're done. It's done. Thirteen stadiums, almost 700,000 people with three amazing women I've shared that stage with. I want to say thank you to Melanie, Melanie and Emma and everybody who showed up for us. It has been something that I will never ever forget. Thank you so much. Big love from the Spice World."
We'll never forget it either!
