Georgia Steel has faced criticism after promoting a trip to Dubai as part of a social media giveaway. The former Love Islander shared the £10,000 holiday prize on her Instagram earlier this week but, despite the getaway's glam appeal, fans were not happy with the 22 year old's post, with many followers criticising her in the comments.
In the initial post, Georgia wrote, 'Win a £10k holiday to Dubai 🇦🇪. We wanted to give you something to look forward to ☀️. Valid for 24 months from when the borders open ✈️.'
Though she did state that the prize would not be valid until borders open (as UK residents are not currently permitted to travel abroad without a "legally permitted reason"), fans had been riled up by the post.
'Are you for real how are you promoting a holiday to Dubai in the middle of a pandemic and basically telling people to put other people's health at risk you should be ashamed of yourself,' commented one.
'You're actually promoting to travel to Dubai during a pandemic??!! Wtf,' added another.
When it was then pointed out to said followers that Georgia had, in fact, intended the prize for when travel outside the UK is allowed again, they hit back, explaining that Georgia herself spent time in Dubai during lockdown.
Georgia isn't the first celeb to receive such comments, with some Love Islanders - like Anton Danyluk and Laura Anderson - losing followers due to posting about their lavish holidays
Speaking to Grazia, Olivia Attwood criticised some of her fellow co-stars, saying: 'Influencers and Love Islanders get such a bad reputation, it really grinds my gears. I think we're not all completely disillusioned, some of us are living in the real world. But we all get tarred with the same brush, which is frustrating.'
She added, 'There is an interesting conversation to educate younger generations that being an influencer, or being on TV, is not all it's cracked up to be. But it's just so unbelievably tone-deaf to think that now would be an appropriate time to raise that topic, when your hard day is creating content that might get nasty comments and someone else's hard day is a 12 hour shift, zipping up body bags at the end of it.'

Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard - SPLIT
Probably one of the most shocking Love Island recouplings was definitely Maura and Curtis. Against all odds the pair made it to the final and weeks after leaving the villa they became an official couple. But it wasn't to be. The pair lasted eight months after the series.
India Reynolds and Ovie Soko - SPLIT
Ovie and India have definitely been the most successful bombshells of all time. The basketball player entered the villa during Casa Amor and India joined the show just weeks before the final. Needless to say, we were obsessed with them but they've since called it quits.

Luke Mabbott and Demi Jones - SPLIT
Three months after the series, the pair split as Demi said Luke didn't make an effort to text her during lockdown. Oh. Jess Gale and Ched Uzor - SPLIT
The pair are still good friends, but like Demi and Luke, they just couldn't make it work during lockdown. Damn.
