While George has mainly been busying himself with the launch of his new tequila and wrapping a couple of films recently, his wife human rights lawyer Amal Clooney has been fighting a number of high profile cases.
They include arguing for the return of the Elgin marbles from Britain to Greece and defending Canadian Al Jazeera journalist Mohammed Fahmy on allegations of spreading false news in Egypt.
During a TV appearance on the US programme The Late Show this week, the host made a dig at the actor about who wears the trousers in his relationship. He joked: 'What is it like to be the arm candy in a relationship? She must say, like, We're going to meet extremely intelligent people tonight, these are not show folk. Just be shiny and pretty.'
George laughed and conceded: 'Shiny and pretty, that's mostly what I do now.'
The actor has spoken regularly over the last year about his pride over his wife's high-powered job. At a charity fundraiser in March for the SeriousFun Children's Network's Gala in New York City he was giving a speech about how far-reaching the charity's work was when he stumbled over his lines.
He told the crowd: 'Since 1988, these camps have [helped] over a half million sick kids and their families from over five, from over 50, not just 500 countries... that would be too many.'
George then stopped himself after realising he had more than doubled the number of countries that were actually in the world. He continued: 'There aren't that many... Are there 500 countries?'
Before adding: 'My wife's the smart one.'
