Last week, Amal and George Clooney became parents for the first time when they welcomed twins Ella and Alexander, and as Hollywood royalty, it’s perhaps only fitting that the couple’s children were reportedly delivered in the same birthing suite as Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
According to a Daily Mail report, the Clooney twins were born at the exclusive Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, with the family choosing to reserve three adjacent rooms: one for Amal and the new-borns, the second for their family and the third for their security detail. The hospital’s website puts the cost of rooms from £5,700 a night.
The Mail adds that these rooms are thought to be the same birthing suites used by the Royal family. In other words, then, Ella and Alexander Clooney were not just born in the same room as Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, two, but also as Princes William and Harry.
A source told the paper that ‘the hospital stay was arranged months ago, and all staff were sworn to secrecy.’
‘The rooms were prepared 10 days prior to the couple’s arrival with everything from furniture to an in-room entertainment system and fridges to flowers chosen on behalf of Amal and George to deck out the three suites,’ they added. The best bit? ‘There’s even a comprehensive wine list available so that George could toast his new arrivals in style.’
Previous reports had stated that the Clooneys had opted for the Kensington Wing of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
