The internet has a bad rep in today's world of trolling and social media addiction.
Our viral age has enabled thousands of users to spread sexist, racist and downright nasty sentiments behind the anonymous safety of their screens.
But Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams reckons it's not all doom and gloom.
Speaking to The Sunday Times' Style magazine, the 20-year-old actress - who plays Arya Stark in the cult hit HBO series - says the web is actually a means of generating kindness and tolerance among her post-millennial generation.
"The internet is always frowned upon," she says. "People always make it out to be a negative place. But because of the internet, my generation is the most accepting that there has ever been.
"We understand each other, we give each other the time of day and don't segregate people because they're different."
She adds that trolls are "really a small minority" of all the people out there spreading the love.
Bristol-born Maisie was plucked from thousands of hopefuls to play Arya on the medieval fantasy show.
It quickly became a global phenomenon, propelling the then 12-year-old actress into the spotlight.
"At 12 I was fearless and didn't care, so I really enjoyed it," she explains.
"But then as each season passed, the pressure built and it became a little destructive. Everyone goes through a dip in confidence. That also came with puberty.
"It all fizzled out a bit and I lost my confidence and now I'm slowly starting to get it back again."
"But the first two years were weird," she adds. "I was having the time of my life, but I look back and I think I wasn't really very happy because I didn't have many friends. I had left school and I was working a lot and it was a strange time."
The actress says she is grateful that she did not get pigeon-holed into a "sexy woman" role that many of her peers are pressured to take on, in a bid for fame.
"I have been really lucky. In that I play characters who aren't necessarily the eye candy," she says.
"It's hard for young actresses who still feel like scrappy teenagers but are sort of forced to play characters who are a lot more mature, because, you know, 'young sexy woman' really sells in Hollywood."
Game of Thrones season 7 arrives on HBO and Sky Atlantic on 16 July
