It's fair to say the highly anticipated Friends reunion has been a long, long time coming. Since it was announced in the beginning of 2020, the upcoming episode has been pushed back three times due to the pandemic, which now feels like a lifetime. But now, we have some news. And it might not be what you were expecting.
The Friends Reunion Trailer
We thought it might never come. But it's definitely happening. Watch the FULL trailer here:
Don't mind us, we're just getting really emotional.
How will the Friends Reunion work? Is it a new Friends episode?
Not quite. If you were hoping for a new episode of the sitcom where we catch up with Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe and Joey, then you'll be disappointed. Instead, expect interviews with the cast - along with other recognisable names - where they talk about the show and its impact. We know that they filmed some aspects of the special on the show's set, so we'll see Central Perk again, at least.
Who is in the Friends Reunion?
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt Le Blanc are all back. But they're not alone. Former regulars and guest stars are dropping in too. Maggie Wheeler, James Michael Tyler, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Selleck, Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles - all of whom co-starred in the programme - are involved.
A strange combination of celebrities - Lady Gaga, James Corden, David Beckham, BTS, Cara Delevingne, Mindy Kaling, Malala Yousafzai, Justin Bieber - will appear too.
Justin's involvement had already been leaked. The Sun reported that scenes with the popstar had been filmed, and that he will wear Ross's infamous 'Spudnik' potato costume from the season eight episode The One With The Halloween Party. (OK, we were maybe hoping for a duet with Phoebe for Smelly Cat, but this will have to do.) You'll recall that this was the episode where Ross thought he was being funny but no one got the pun.
'Justin was honoured to be involved and didn’t mind sending himself up wearing a ridiculous costume,' a source told the paper. 'It was all run like a military operation to keep details under wraps, and Justin nailed it.'
It isn't the first time Justin has shown an interest in the hit sitcom. Last year he surprised tourists by going undercover on the Friends set for an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the US.
When is the Friends Reunion on TV?
It will air on HBO Max in the US on May 27th. So that's only a week away, eek.
How to watch the Friends Reunion in the UK?
And, finally, the most important question of all. They kept us waiting, but Sky has just confirmed that they'll air the show on the same day as the US broadcast: May 27th at 8pm.
