The Coronavirus Pandemic Has Pushed Back The Friends Reunion

It's probably not going to stop you from binge watching Friends on Netflix though.

The coronavirus has cancelled many gigs, tours - and even festivals like Glastonbury. But it’s now having an impact on TV schedules, too. Some presenters in the UK{ =nofollow}are self-isolating and presenting from home, and other shows are happening without a live audience. So it seems sad, and inevitable, that the Friends reunion has been thrown into jeopardy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the HBO Max unscripted special was due to be filmed next week - March 23 and 24 - at the Warner Bros Studio lot in Burbank, California. However, due to the pandemic, production has now reportedly been delayed until at least May. Sob. The episode - starring original cast Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow - was officially announced last month, with the cast confirming it on social media.

However, we doubt the reunion being pushed back is going to stop anyone from binge watching Friends on Netflix one hundred times over. In fact, the sitcom was the most streamed show in 2018 in the UK. And there was an uproar when it was announced that US Netflix would stop streaming the show as its back catalogue moved to HBO Max.

Yesterday, the BBC announced that EastEnders and Holby City would suspend filming, with the number of EastEnders episodes screened being cut from four to two per week.
