Eve Hewson is having a moment. If you haven't kept up to date with her acting prowess so far, then you'd do well to play catch up. She's starred in some of the biggest shows of the past few years, including Sharon Horgan's Bad Sisters and Netflix's The Perfect Couple, where she stars opposite Nicole Kidman.
As The Perfect Couple, which landed on Netflix on 5 September, makes waves with audiences looking for a mystery series oozing in snobbery, deceit and and old money, viewers may find themselves wanting to know a bit more about its bride.
Well, aside from being a talented actress, and incredibly stylish, Eve has many other strings to her bow – including A-list parents. Let's just say you may have received one of her Dad's albums against your will in 2014.
Here's everything you need to know about her...
Who is Eve Hewson?
Eve Hewson is a 33-year-old Irish actress from not-so-humble beginnings. Her dad is the U2 frontman, Paul Hewson otherwise known as Bono, and her mother is activist and businesswoman Ali Hewson.
She is one of the couple's four children and has been acting since 2011. Like many famous people's children, she has an imaginative full name - Memphis Eve Sunny Day Hewson. Her name, Eve, is thanks to fact she was born at 7 am on 7 July, as 'eve' is the middle of the word 'seven'. Clever. She has two younger brothers, Elijah - who is in indie rock band Inhaler - and John, as well as an older sister, Jordan.
Where is Eve Hewson from?
Eve is originally from an affluent suburb of Dublin called Killiney and later moved to Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from New York University in 2013 and rumour has it Bono declined an offer of an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from NYU on the same day, instead wishing to attend as a 'proud father'.
It's thought that Eve moved back to Killiney during the pandemic and has lived there since.
Who does Eve Hewson play in The Perfect Couple?
In the new Netflix murder mystery, The Perfect Couple, Eve plays Amelia Sacks who is about to marry into the wealthy Winbury family when a murder takes place on the beach just hours before the ceremony. She stars alongside Nicole Kidman, her disapproving mother-in-law, Billy Howle, her fiancé, Dakota Fanning, her future sister-in-law, Liev Schreiber, her father-in-law and Meghann Fahy, who plays her close friend.
The eat-the-rich Whodunnit? is expected to be a huge hit for the streaming platform, with Eve's character finding herself at the centre of the drama.
Who does Eve Hewson play in Bad Sisters?
If the actress still feels familiar, you may have seen her in the hit Apple TV+ series, Bad Sisters, where she plays the youngest of the five Garvey sisters in Sharon Horgan's smash hit black comedy. At the end of the show, it was unclear whether Becka and her romantic interest, Matthew Claffin, were going to continue - given that he knows all about what her and her sisters had been up to.
Eve will reprise her role as Becka in the second season, which airs on the platform on 13 November.
What films and TV shows has Eve Hewson starred in?
Last year, Eve starred as the lead in Apple TV's film, Flora and Son, where she plays Flora, a single mother living in Dublin, who is having trouble with her estranged son Max, a rebellious teenage petty thief.
Eve was also the star of Netflix's 2021 thriller, Behind Her Eyes, the TV adaptation of Sarah Pinborough’s bestselling psychological thriller. It follows Louise, a single mum with a son and a part-time job in a psychiatrist's office - but it all starts to go wrong when she begins an affair with her boss and becomes friends with his wife, Adele (the character Eve plays). The book has a very controversial ending.
The actress had her breakout roles in the 2011 drama, This Must Be The Place and the 2014 series, The Knick, but she's also starred in BBC One series The Luminaries, as Maid Marian in a big budget reimagining of the Robin Hood legend, and the Steven Spielberg drama Bridge Of Spies.
