It was a great night for women (and men, we can't forget Jon Hamm) at this year's Emmy Awards. From Viola Davis to the Amys (Schumer and Poehler) to Uzo Aduba, our leading ladies came out on top.
We've rounded up our best bits here:
Andy Samberg's Opening Monologue
Andy's Emmy hosting debut opened with an ode to binge-watching. He then launched into a speech which mocked Donald Trump. Risqué - but we think he pulled it off.
Jon Hamm FINALLY Won An Emmy
After a staggering 16 nominations, Hamm finally took home the award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his infamous role as Don Draper in Mad Men.
He received a standing ovation as he literally crawled onto the stage and humourously said "There's been a terrible mistake, clearly," when accepting the award.
He also thanked his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt, despite their recent split. More on that here.
Viola Davis Made History
Viola became the first African-American woman to win the Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in ABC's* How To Get Away With Murder. *
Thanking her fellow black actresses for persevering when roles are "simply not there" for them, * Scandal* star Kerry Washington and Empire's Taraji P Henson were visibly moved by Viola's words.
Her empowering speech gave a strong message: "Let me tell you something: The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity."
See the speech in full here.
Game of Thrones Won A Record-Breaking 12 Emmys
After six incredible seasons, HBO's Game of Thrones won the best drama series award at the Emmys last night, beating an impressive nine other competitors including Mad Men.
If that isn't impressive enough, GoT racked up an astounding 12 awards from its 24 nominations, the most any series has won in a year.
Amy Schumer Gave A Hilarious Speech (As Expected)
On winning her first ever Emmy, Amy told the audience she hadn't prepared a speech, but she still managed to pull some classic lines out of the bag: "Let's not forget what tonight is really about, celebrating hilarious women and letting the Internet weigh in on who looks the worst."
Schumer won the outstanding variety sketch series award, which she dedicated to “my sister Kim, who’s the only reason I’m alive and breathing.” She also thanked the makeup artist who gave her “this sort of smoky eye. I love it.” We love you, Amy.
Also...
Uzo Aduba won best supporting actress for her awesome portrayal of 'Crazy Eyes' in *Orange is the New Black, *Cat Deely debuted her baby bump and Jon Stewart had an air of the end about him (sad times), concluding his speech with "Thank you so much. You will never have to see me again."
