The nominations for the 68th Annual Emmy Awards were announced in Los Angeles yesterday - and there's great news for British TV shows and stars.

Revealed by Gilmore Girls's Lauren Graham (oh hey Lorelai!) and actor Anthony Anderson, the nominations list includes 23 nominations for HBO's Game Of Thrones, while Brit actors - and Bond hopefuls - Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba have both garnered nominations for Outstanding Actor In A Limited Series Or Movie for their roles in The Night Manager and Luther respectively. They are joined in the category by Benedict Cumberbatch, who is nominated for his turn in Sherlock: The Abominable Bride.

Meanwhile, the Supporting Actress In A Drama Series category was dominated by British stars, with Game Of Thrones stars Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams nominated alongside the Dowager Countess herself, Dame Maggie Smith.

The BBC's hit John Le Carré adaptation The Night Manager gained four nominations overall: along with Hiddleston's Best Actor nod and a mention in the Outstanding Limited Series category, Olivia Coleman and Hugh Laurie were recognised for their supporting roles.

Stars like Kirsten Dunst, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's Ellie Kemper and Amy Schumer all also received nominations. However, Netflix favourite Orange Is The New Black missed out on a single nomination in a major category - a surprising move given the show's success at last year's ceremony.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on September 18, hosted by chat show star Jimmy Kimmel.
