Congratulations to Emily Ratajkowski, who has welcomed her first child with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard. Emily announced the arrival with a sweet photo on Instagram yesterday, captioning a snap of her breastfeeding the baby: 'Sylvester Apollo Bear has joined us earth side. Sly arrived 3/8/21 on the most surreal, beautiful, and love-filled morning of my life.'
The supermodel announced her pregnancy in October last year, writing an essay about gender for Vogue, which explained how she would like to force 'as few gender stereotypes on [her] child as possible' even though they will 'be faced with the undeniable constraints and constructions of gender before they can speak'.
'I don’t like that we force gender-based preconceptions onto people, let alone babies,' Emily continued. 'I want to be a parent who allows my child to show themself to me. And yet I realise that while I may hope my child can determine their own place in the world, they will, no matter what, be faced with the undeniable constraints and constructions of gender before they can speak or, hell, even be born.'
Emily has documented her changing body on Instagram throughout her pregnancy. Posting some mirror photos in February, she wrote: 'Sometimes I feel like Winnie the Pooh in human form, other times like a fertility goddess with a juicy butt. I took this on a day where I was feeling the latter. Either way I know I’m going to miss this bump and those kicks very soon.'
Emily and Sebastian, an actor and producer, married at City Hall in New York City in 2018.
