Some critics might not have loved it - but we certainly enjoyed Emily In Paris. We couldn't get enough of Lily Collins' eyebrows, the oh-so-chic fashion and, of course, Hot Chef Gabriel. But one of the main issues reviewers have had with the series was some of the cliches the show decided to run with, e.g. French people drinking wine at breakfast and having cigarettes for lunch.
And the series' chef (Lucas Bravo) even kind of agrees. 'I think they're right, in a way,' Lucas said, talking about some of the backlash from French TV critics to Cosmopolitan. 'We're portraying cliches and we're portraying one single vision of Paris.' The French actor continued: 'Paris is one of the most diverse cities in the world. We have so many ways of thinking, so many different nationalities, so many different neighborhoods. A lifetime wouldn't be enough to know everything that's going on in Paris. It's an entire world in a city.'
Lucas - who actually used to work as a chef - added that the French critics, 'didn't understand the fact that it's just one vision. They're like, "Oh, this is not what Paris is."'
Unfortunately, we don't know yet if we're going to get a second series of the show. (If you're reading this Netflix: please!) But Lucas has hinted that creator Darren Star - who was also the mastermind behind Sex And The City - would like the second run to be 'really open minded'. Lucas added: 'We planted a few seeds about different characters. Like Camille, when she kisses Emily on the mouth, and she's like, "I'm not sorry." And then when they're in bed, and I'm liking the picture, it's all little seeds. Anything could happen between the three of them.'
