Despite coming out 12 years ago in 2006, we’re still obsessed with cult fashion comedy, The Devil Wears Prada, following an editor’s assistant’s trajectory at a glossy magazine. There’s been a stage show, rumoured sequel, and even an upcoming novel focusing on the character of Emily, but the actress who played her, Emily Blunt, is one person who isn’t keen on reprising her role.

‘If everyone did it I would be up for it,’ she told People magazine before adding. ‘I almost hope it doesn’t [happen] because I think sometimes when you sequel everything kind of dilutes how special the original is.’

Blunt has previously said she’d ‘love’ to do the sequel, and there’s certainly no love lost between her and her co-stars. During the same interview, she also gushed about her famous co-stars to the magazine, explaining that they had a lot of fun on set: ‘We all just wept with laughter. I loved working with sweet Annie Hathaway and it was my first experience working Meryl [Streep] and Stanley Tucci who is now my brother-in-law.’ Tucci is married to Blunt’s sister, who she introduced him to after filming.

As one of her most iconic roles, Blunt is often asked about the film, and told MTV in 2006: ‘I knew I had some good one-liners, but I think all of us underestimated the impact this film and our performances would have. Honestly, I didn't realise how big a deal the performance would be at the time. I was having a huge amount of fun with it, overacting my little butt off.’
