As Harry and Meghan make headlines for a royal exit, it seems like a good time to celebrate a royal entrance. According to The Evening Standard's Londoner's Diary, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed a new Communications Chief. Meet Edwina Iddles, a key new member of their charitable foundation.
According to Edwina's recently updated Linked In profile, she joined the team this month, and holds the title of Chief Communications Officer for The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Evening Standard quotes a former colleague of Edwina's as saying that the role is 'her dream job.'
Edwina seems well-equipped to deal with any crisis that she might face in the rollercoaster world of royal communications, thanks to her previous work in government. She was a parliamentary assistant for Conservative MP Caroline Dinenage between 2013 and 2015, then moved to the Department of Energy and Climate Change. In 2016, she worked on the press team for the Department of Exiting the European Union - aka Team Brexit - leaving in October of 2018 to join the Home Office as Senior Press Officer.
The Royal Foundation is, according to its website, the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The site could use an update, however, as Edwina will only work with William and Kate. According to The Sun, William and Kate are listed as the only 'principles' of the charity, with Harry and Meghan's projects no longer mentioned.
Edwina will be busy, as both William and Kate are passionate about many philanthropic endeavours. Only last week, Kate embarked on a whistle-stop tour of the UK to launch a survey on early childhood by IPSOS Mori. She said she hopes the study will bring about 'lasting change for generations to come.'
