As we reported last month, with over 18 flats and houses in London and Suffolk, property tycoon Ed Sheeran might be your landlord. (Worrying, we know.) But it turns out one of the most successful musicians of all time isn’t immune from good ol’ planning laws. Nope. Because, according to The Sun Online, Ed has been forced to knock down his sauna and take down a pub sign at his £1.5million Suffolk mansion. Which his wife, Cherry Lancaster Seaborn probably isn’t going to be best pleased about, as the establishment is named The Lancaster Lock in her honour.

Suffolk Coastal District Council want him to knock down the sauna, as they think the £500,000 pond could be used as a swimming pool. So they have said he has to either remove the sauna, or seek further planning permission. A spokesperson also said his property will be "monitored" by officers in future.

Council officers also demanded that Ed has to take down the 16ft sign after they discovered that he broke the rules last month. (He does have until Christmas to do that, though.) A council spokesman said, ‘It was found that a sauna has been constructed near to the pond. We have raised concerns regarding this structure, which requires either planning permission or removal. We have also requested that all unauthorised signage be removed from the Grade II-listed barn.’

Ed originally filed for permission to build a pub in 2017, and it was granted - as if that wasn’t extravagant enough, it also has underground access to his main house.

According to The Sun, the superstar has apparently bought 18 flats and houses, along with a restaurant in Notting Hill, spending a whopping £42million over the past seven years.
