If you thought you can’t escapeEd Sheeran, then it’s only set to be get worse - as the popstar is set to become the face of tomato ketchup. It’s been reported by The Sunthat the musician is going to be paid £300,000 for Heinz’ next saucy campaign, which will see him bring out a bottle of the condiment at a fancy restaurant.
The news hardly comes as a surprise, as Ed has a tattoo of a ketchup bottle on his arm. And last month he begged the brand to work with him on social media. Posting some snaps while posing with the red sauce, he wrote on Instagram, ‘Yo Heinz I have an idea for a tv ad if you wanna do one, if not I won't be offended, I could never be mad at you. Slide in my DMs or have your people call my people. Lots of love, your biggest fan x.’ (Last year, it was also revealed that an assistant made sure ketchup was on their team at all times - in case disaster struck, and Ed found himself in a restaurant too posh to serve it.)
A source told the paper’s Bizarre column, 'Ed was really involved in working out what they would do in the advert and it's going to be a laugh for viewers. Over the years, Ed has experienced firsthand how people can turn their nose up or scoff at asking for ketchup in posh restaurants but he wants to poke fun at how ridiculous that is.’ They added that the advert is set to air this summer.
