The second Earl of Snowdon is set to split from his wife, making it the second royal divorce{ =nofollow}announcement in less than a week. David Armstrong-Jones - son of the late Princess Margaret and 21st in line to the throne - is to separate from Serena Armstrong-Jones. The Earl is the son of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones, the first Earl of Snowdon, and has been married to Serena for 26 years.

A spokesman for the couple said: ‘The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced. They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family.’ The pair have two children, Viscount Linley, Charles Armstrong-Jones and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

The announcement comes less than a week after the Queen's grandson Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn also revealed they are to part ways, with Mr and Mrs Phillips confirmining in a statement that they had separated and will share custody of their children Savannah, nine, and Isla, seven. The couple reportedly told the Queen and other Royal Family members about their decision last year.

Last month, Peter caused quite the confusion when he starred in an advert - which saw him endorse milk from Jersey cows - on Chinese television. In the advert, he appears against a backdrop of a stately home, and is even described as ‘British royal family member, Peter Phillips’. (He also accepts a glass of milk from a butler on a tray.)
